In order to configure a New Relic Insights destination, you will need an
Account ID and an
Insights Insert API Key. This information will allow BindPlane to insert data into your New Relic account. To find this information, click the Account menu in the top-right corner of the screen and select Account Settings. From the Account Settings screen, click the API keys link in the left-hand navigation menu.
Use the reference image below as a guide to you find the information you need.
Optionally, users may also supply an
Admin API Key. This key is not required for inserting data. Instead, it is used to push preconfigured dashboards to your New Relic account.
Admin User API Key Needed for BindPlane Dashboards
In order to use the BindPlane created dashboards content, an Admin User's API Key is needed to connect BindPlane to New Relic.
Integration data is sent to New Relic using the Insights Custom Event API.
Because of this, one mistake Customers often make is to search for their data in either Plugins or Infrastructure. Instead, all data sent by BindPlane is stored in the Insights module. You can start by querying your data in the Insights Data Explorer, as seen below.
Before installing any dashboards, you will need to supply an Admin API Key when configuring your New Relic Insights destination. Then, from within BindPlane, you should navigate to that destination, either through the desintations page or by clicking on it in the overview diagram.
At the bottom of the destinations page, you will see a list of dashboards corresponding to the technologies that you are currently monitoring. Clicking install will immediately push these dashboards to your account.
