Data Collection Setup
Metrics are collected from the VNX Storage Controller using the Naviseccli utility. This utility must be downloaded from Dell/EMC support portal and installed on the Bindplane collector host in order to collect metrics successfully.
Navisphere Secure Command Line Interface (NaviSecCLI) Revision 7.33.3.0.72+
Naviseccli must be installed on all Bindplane collectors within a collector group
If you are using multiple Bindplane collectors in a collector group configuration, install the Navseccli utility on each of the collectors within the group. These also need to be installed in the same directory.
Acquiring and Installing Naviseccli
Log in to EMC’s support portal at https://support.emc.com, then search to find and download the latest Navisphere CLI utility applicable to your Bindplane collector's Operating System.
Search for Naviseccli
NOTE: In your search parameters, search by “NaviCLI” and set the Scope by resource option to “Support Tools”.
Naviseccli Installation on Linux Example
- SSH into the Bindplane collector host.
Download the .rpm file directly to the Collector host using the following command:
curl --user [email address]:[password] -O -L [rpm file URL]
NOTE: The [rpm file URL] can be copied by right-clicking on the “Navisphere CLI [version] for Linux x64” link. Be sure to remove any characters in the hyperlink following “.rpm” - Install the package using the following command:
rpm -ivh *.rpm
NOTE: Replace * with the name of the downloaded .rpm file. - After installation, run the following command to set the security level (to either low or medium):
/opt/Navisphere/bin/setlevel_cli.sh
Network Requirements
Port: 443 (TCP) to the VNX Storage Controllers
Least Privileged User
- Log in to the Control Station as an administrator, then navigate to Settings -> Security -> User Management, then select
Local Users for Block:
- Create or edit the the user you plan to use. Select the Storage Domain Role of Operator

- VNX Generation 1: VNX5100, VNX5300, VNX5500, VNX5700, VNX7500
- VNX Generation 2: VNX5200, VNX5400, VNX5600, VNX5800, VNX7600, VNX8000
