Data Collection Setup
Monitor the configuration, power consumption, and other metrics in your Dell EMC Compute Environment.
Metrics are collected via SNMP calls to each Dell Server via iDrac and Blade Server Chassis via CMC.
SNMP v3 Required for Alerts
In order to retrieve alerts that are triggered directly by iDRAC/SNMP, the adapter instance must use SNMP v3.
SNMP Service Configuration Examples:
The below examples show enabling the SNMP Network Services for both CMC and iDrac. Note your interface may be different based on server Generation.
Network Requirements
Port: 161 (UDP) SNMP connection to each iDrac and CMC interface
Least Privileged User
- SNMP v2, v2c: community string to give read-only permissions.
- SNMP v3: requires a least-privileged SNMP user account of read-only.

iDrac Servers must be equipped with iDRAC v7+ with firmware version 1.30.30+.

Management IP Definition Methods
BindPlane supports the following host formats:
- Individual hostname or IP address (IPv4/IPv6 are supported)
- IP range (e.g., 192.168.0.32-192.168.0.67, 10.10.01.0-10.10.0.254)
If the SNMP IP range is greater than 400 IP addresses, Test Connection may fail.
- IP CIDR notation range (e.g., 10.6.14.0/24, 2620:0:2d0:200:1f00:400::7/120)
- Any of the above in a comma-separated list
If the IP range for your Chassis Monitoring Console (CMC) is different than that of your iDRAC, you must list it separately here to return chassis metrics.
